Brigadier General John Creel

Brig. Gen. John B. Creel is the Deputy Commander, Air Forces Southern, Davis-Monthan Air Force Base, Arizona. As the Air Force component to U.S. Southern Command, Air Forces Southern conducts security cooperation and provides air, space and cyberspace capabilities throughout Latin America and the Caribbean.

Brig. Gen. Creel began his military career in 1985 as an enlisted helicopter mechanic in the Army. He then attended helicopter flight training and flew the UH-60 Black Hawk as a warrant officer. After 15 years, he separated from the Army, joined the Air Force, and graduated Officer Training School in 2000. He has held positions at the squadron, group, wing, deployed Joint Force Command and Combatant Command levels. Brig. Gen. Creel’s operational tours include operations Desert Shield, Desert Storm, Joint Endeavor, Joint Guard, Northern Watch, Enduring Freedom and Iraqi Freedom. He holds an undergraduate degree in professional aeronautics and two graduate degrees in Business Aviation from Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University, and a third graduate degree in Strategic Studies from the Marine Corps War College. Prior to his current position, Brig. Gen. Creel served as the Senior Special Assistant to the Commander of United States European Command and the Supreme Allied Commander Europe, Brussels, Belgium.

Brigadier Stu Nasse

Brigadier Stu Nasse

Brigadier Stu Nasse OBE was commissioned into the REME in 1997. He has undertaken command appointments in armoured and aviation engineering roles, including operational deployments to Bosnia, Iraq and Afghanistan. He commanded 7 Aviation Support Battalion, responsible for engineering support to the UK attack and recce helicopter fleets, as well as nascent UAS capabilities. Brig Nasse’s staff career has been varied - Army Commitments, DCOS 7 Armoured Brigade (The Desert Rats), the Army Command Review, Army Strategy and lately the Army’s Rapid Acquisition Team which had significant success. In October 2024, he assumed his current role as the Head of Land Capability Coalitions for UK Defence, and the Lead for the multinational Drone Capability Coalition in support of Ukraine.

Captain Ben Perkins-Brown

Captain Ben Perkins-Brown

Ben Perkins-Brown joined the Royal Navy as an Air Engineering Officer (1999); post completion of an Aerospace Systems Engineering degree from The University of Southampton. He is a Chartered Engineer, and currently a Fellow with both the Royal Aeronautical Engineering Society and Institution of Engineering and Technology. He has a Masters in Defence Studies from King’s College London.

With a 26 year career primarily employed within the Type and Continuing Airworthiness domain before transitioning to broader Defence Engineering roles, he has worked on over 10 aircraft Types, including multiple UAVs as a Chief Air Engineer and Type Airworthiness Authority within Defence Equipment and Support organsiation.
 

Captain Johann Eidesheim

Captain Johann Eidesheim

Captain Johann Eidesheim joins the Navy in 1993. Following his Flight Navigator and Radar Operator course, he is assigned to the Maritime Patrol Squadron 21F in Nîmes-Garons and participates in many operational missions. From 1998, he holds the position of tactical coordinator on ATL2 and stands out positively during several operational deployments.
In 2001, appointed Deputy Liaison Officer on board of two American aircraft carriers as part of "Enduring Freedom" operation, he is the aeronautic adviser of the coalition Commander. Coming back to a Maritime Patrol Squadron, he participates in numerous operational missions: Djibouti, Ivory Coast, Chad.
In 2009, he joins the training department at the Naval Air Station of Lann-Bihoué. Appointed course director, he is in charge of the tactical training for the MPA crews.
In 2011, he is appointed to the Maritime Warfare Centre. Qualified Forward Air Controller Airborne, he participates in “Harmattan” operation (Libya) then Serval (Mali).
In 2014, he is appointed to MARCOM in Northwood as operational planner. In September 2019, graduated of War College, he is appointed within the Navy Operational Headquarters in charge of Navy Air operational employment and doctrine.
Then he commanded the Maritime Warfare Centre from 2022 to 2024.
Captain Johann Eidesheim is currently Branch Head of the Naval Air Office, Plans & Programs Division. Totalling more than 5000 flying hours, 22 deployments on operational theatres, he is awarded the “Légion d’honneur”, the “Ordre national du Mérite” as well as three unit awards for combat missions.

Colonel Pavlo Khazan

Colonel Pavlo Khazan currently serves in the General Directorate of Electronic and Cyber Warfare of the of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

He commanded Unmanned Systems in Army Branch, he was also C4&Cyber officer and a C4ISR group commander in the Signal & Cyber Security Corps and Joint Forces Operation in the Armed Forces of Ukraine. Veteran of the russian war in Ukraine since 2014. Awarded by Order of Merit, Badge of Honor, Badge of Exemplary Service, Armed Forces Meritorious Service Medal, and others.

He has MSc in physics & electrical engineering and Ph.D. in statistics. He held a scholarship of the John Smith Trust and LSE in UK. In civilian life he was a Head of Science and Engineering at Environmental Monitoring Centre and an expert in UNDP, British Council, and others. He is a developer of civil and military engineering systems, author of scientific papers on ecology, renewable energy, economics and statistics.

 

Commander Ned Morgan

Commander Ned Morgan

Cdr Ned Morgan joined the Army in 1997 and qualified as a helicopter pilot. He deployed operationally to Kosovo and Northern Ireland, before transferring to the RN in 2004. He has deployed to Iraq and Afghanistan in sub unit command roles, as well as numerous amphibious deployments in support of 3 Cdo Bde in both executive and staff roles.
He has undertaken staff roles in; tri service Org and Plans in the JHC, RN Personnel, and Capability and Acquisition in NCHQ. His most recent staff tour was the desk lead for Carrier Strike and Maritime Aviation at the RN Operational Advantage Centre before joining Navy Develop as RD&E lead for Maritime Aviation Transformation.
 

Dr. Joao Caetano

Dr. Joao Caetano

Dr. João Caetano joined the Portuguese Air Force Academy at 18. He served at the Portuguese Air Force for 20 years. He holds a Ph.D. in Aerospace Engineering from Delft University of Technology. His career focused on research and operations of Unmanned Aircraft Systems at the Portuguese Air Force Research Center, where he was also an assistant professor. He was head of UAS operations for the Portuguese Air Force, and UAS Remote Pilot instructor. As a NATO appointee, he oversaw UAS research and chaired the Strategic Committee of the Applied Vehicle Technologies Panel at NATO’s Science and Technology Organization. Currently, he is honored and humbled to serve the EU Members States at the European Defence Agency as a Project Officer on UAS Programmes, supporting defence research, technology development, and the integration of UAS in airspace. He supports EDA’s roles, while supporting the development of defence capabilities and military cooperation among the Member States in the UAS domain.

Col Welsh read Aeronautical Engineering at the University of Glasgow, commissioning into the RAF 1999. The initial phase of his career was with 33 and 230 Sqns operating the Puma HC1 before transferring to the RPAS Force in 2009 operating the MQ-9 Reaper with 39 Sqn and XIII Sqns, latterly commanding 39 Sqn from Creech AFB, Nevada.

Welsh joined the RCO in 2020 as SO1 FCAS and subsequently led the RCO Advanced Technologies and Prototyping Group before becoming Head RCO in 2025. The RCO role is to enhance the Warfighters’ critical operational edge by addressing future challenges and exploring novel technologies.

Group Captain Nick Robson

Nick Robson joined the RAF in 1987, qualifying as an Air Traffic Controller in 1992, and controlling at Airfields and Area Radar units across the UK and overseas, as well as operating tactical landing zones across the world.

Gp Capt Robson, as the Head of Defence Airspace and Air Traffic (DAATM), he led airspace policy and strategy, from UAVs to airspace classifications. He is currently Deputy Head of Regulations at the Military Aviation Authority, responsible for the delivery of the Military Regulation Publications across the Defence Aviation Environment.

In his spare time, as a keen but below average sportsman, Nick is the Chair of a Sport for Social Change charity, Bhubesi Pride Foundation, in Africa. Having just completed an MSc in Air Transport Management & Planning, he is a Visiting Lecturer for the Master’s programme and is an Associate Researcher at the Centre of ATM Research, University of Westminster. To relax, he runs a small wine business on the Isle of Skye.

Lieutenant Colonel Daniel Boehm

Lt Col Daniel Böhm is currently serving as program manager for the new ADS 15 System.

Lt Col Böhm began his military career as a photo interpreter in a Mirage III reconnaissance squadron, staying in this field as a reserve officer for 10 years. In 2004 he changed to the UA career field by joining the 7th UA squadron. He has been serving professionally in the Swiss Air Force as part of the ADS 95, 84th Training Command since 2007. Until 2018 he was Chief Pilot of the ADS 95 system at the 84th Training Command and was until 2013 the commander of the 7th UA squadron.

Lt Col Böhm completed a master in mechanical engineering and economics at the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology (ETH) at Zürich.

Lieutenant Colonel Julien Letarte

LCol Julien Letarte was born in Ottawa, Ontario and grew up in Canada’s National Capital Region. He enrolled in the Canadian Armed Forces in 1998 at age 16 and was awarded a Bachelor’s degree in Space Sciences from the Royal Military College of Canada(RMC).

After pilot training, Julien started flying the CP140 Aurora. Completing two tours at 407 squadron on the Pacific Coast as well as one at 405 squadron and an instructional posting at 404 squadron on the Atlantic Coast, he participated in many exercises and operations worldwide. Some of these deployments include commanding Heron UAV missions over Afghanistan, flying the first operational CP140 mission over Iraq during operation Impact and patrolling the seas in support of NATO and coalition forces.

He graduated from the Joint Command and Staff Programme with a masters in Defence Studies and started working for the RCAF RPAS project for the Directorate of Air Requirements in Ottawa in 2020. Representing the Air Force, he manages requirements and prepares to integrate this new capability within the Canadian flight line.

Mr. Crescenzo Esposito

Mr. Crescenzo Esposito

Crescenzo Esposito is an accomplished leader in defense aerospace and uncrewed systems, currently serving in dual roles at the NATO Support and Procurement Agency (NSPA). As UAS Branch Chief since July 2024, he oversees a broad portfolio of projects, supporting the procurement and lifecycle management of uncrewed aerial systems. In January 2025, he also took on the role of MQ-9B Project Executive Officer, where he leads high-visibility efforts for multiple NATO Nations.
A retired Colonel in the Italian Air Force, Crescenzo brings more than 25 years of operational and strategic experience, including roles in airworthiness certification, flight test, and multinational program execution. His tenure at the F-35 Joint Program Office in the U.S., where he served as Italy’s Delegated Airworthiness Authority, was instrumental in advancing the certification and delivery of Italy’s F-35A/B fleet. For his contributions, he was awarded the U.S. Defense Meritorious Service Medal.
He holds an Executive MBA, a Master’s degree in Electronic Engineering, and is certified as an Experimental Flight Test Engineer by the U.S. Air Force Test Pilot School (05B class). Known for his technical depth, collaborative leadership, and commitment to mission success, Crescenzo continues to drive innovation and integration in NATO’s aerospace capabilities.

James Gavin is the head of the UK MOD Defence Equipment & Support (DES) Future Capability Innovation Team. The FCI exists to deliver both Prototype Warfare Capabilities and to Explore and accelerate capabilities into Operational use.
Increasingly projects are ‘Agile By Default’ to deliver early operational advantage. The Group works closely with all the Front-line Commands, DSTL and central MOD areas such as the DIU and DASA. James has served in the military, the civil service and industry before joining DE&S. He is a passionate advocate of delivering Operational Advantage through novel ways of working, particularly though applying Agile & Spiral Development and the use of Industry Mission Partners.

    WHAT IS CPD?

    CPD stands for Continuing Professional Development’. It is essentially a philosophy, which maintains that in order to be effective, learning should be organised and structured. The most common definition is:

    ‘A commitment to structured skills and knowledge enhancement for Personal or Professional competence’

    CPD is a common requirement of individual membership with professional bodies and Institutes. Increasingly, employers also expect their staff to undertake regular CPD activities.

    Undertaken over a period of time, CPD ensures that educational qualifications do not become obsolete, and allows for best practice and professional standards to be upheld.

    CPD can be undertaken through a variety of learning activities including instructor led training courses, seminars and conferences, e:learning modules or structured reading.

    CPD AND PROFESSIONAL INSTITUTES

    There are approximately 470 institutes in the UK across all industry sectors, with a collective membership of circa 4 million professionals, and they all expect their members to undertake CPD.

    For some institutes undertaking CPD is mandatory e.g. accountancy and law, and linked to a licence to practice, for others it’s obligatory. By ensuring that their members undertake CPD, the professional bodies seek to ensure that professional standards, legislative awareness and ethical practices are maintained.

    CPD Schemes often run over the period of a year and the institutes generally provide online tools for their members to record and reflect on their CPD activities.

    TYPICAL CPD SCHEMES AND RECORDING OF CPD (CPD points and hours)

    Professional bodies and Institutes CPD schemes are either structured as ‘Input’ or ‘Output’ based.

    ‘Input’ based schemes list a precise number of CPD hours that individuals must achieve within a given time period. These schemes can also use different ‘currencies’ such as points, merits, units or credits, where an individual must accumulate the number required. These currencies are usually based on time i.e. 1 CPD point = 1 hour of learning.

    ‘Output’ based schemes are learner centred. They require individuals to set learning goals that align to professional competencies, or personal development objectives. These schemes also list different ways to achieve the learning goals e.g. training courses, seminars or e:learning, which enables an individual to complete their CPD through their preferred mode of learning.

    The majority of Input and Output based schemes actively encourage individuals to seek appropriate CPD activities independently.

    As a formal provider of CPD certified activities, SAE Media Group can provide an indication of the learning benefit gained and the typical completion. However, it is ultimately the responsibility of the delegate to evaluate their learning, and record it correctly in line with their professional body’s or employers requirements.

    Increasingly, international and emerging markets are ‘professionalising’ their workforces and looking to the UK to benchmark educational standards. The undertaking of CPD is now increasingly expected of any individual employed within today’s global marketplace.
